Our position
Inspection first, testing when it is warranted
We do not collect air or surface samples for lab analysis. Where testing is warranted we recommend third parties who have no relationship with us, and we often carry out remediation after somebody else's assessment has confirmed there is a problem.
For the ordinary case, the EPA's own position is that sampling is usually unnecessary when mold is visible, because the answer does not change what has to happen. Visible growth means remove it and identify the water source so it can be corrected, whatever species it turns out to be.
